Here's a conversation with hedge fund manager Bill Ackman of Pershing Square Capital Management on Charlie Rose (11/11/2008). It's interesting, he talks about the hedge fund industry, flaws of the ratings agencies, leverage, credit default swaps, bond insurers, Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, Lehman Brothers, AIG, a pre-packaged bankruptcy for GM, short selling intervention, and the U.S being a turnaround story.



While we're talking about hedge funds, hedge fund managers testified about federal regulation of financial markets, operation of hedge funds, and the recent global financial crisis. The hearing focused on several issues including executive compensation, proposed regulations and tax reforms, and the nature of risk within financial markets. It featured George Soros of Soros Fund Management, James Simons of Renaissance Technologies, John Paulson of Paulson & Co., Philip Falcone of Harbinger Capital Partners, and Kenneth Griffin of Citadel Investment Group. Each of these managers made over a billion dollar in 2007.
