Industry Indexes with Bearish Divergences: Analysis of U.S. Economy and Industry Indexes (Part 2)

This post was originally on the Dvolatility Research blog on 8/29/2014.

This is part two of my analysis on U.S. economic trends and industry indexes. In part one, I noted that the U.S. economy looked ok at the moment, but a leading index looked potentially problematic for the economy and market.

Since economic data is backward looking, to provide a more real-time view of the industrial, construction, automobile, and retail industries/sectors, I looked at six year weekly charts of the Dow Jones Industrial Average, Dow Jones US Industrial Supplier Index, Dow Jones US Automobiles and Parts Index, Dow Jones US Commercial Vehicles and Trucks Index, Dow Jones US Home Construction Index, Dow Jones US Construction and Materials Index, Dow Jones US Heavy Construction Index, Dow Jones US Retail Index, DJ US Personal Goods Index, and Dow Jones US Containers and Packaging Index with technical and momentum indicators (RSI, CCI, PPO and trend lines).

In summary, there are still bearish divergences out there, but each index looks different. Read the text on the charts for more information.
