Speaking with TODAY live by phone, Lenny Curry, mayor of Jacksonville, Florida, says that the call volume for rescues has stopped and “people are safe and secure.” However, he says floodwaters may not recede for a week. “Yesterday was a rescue day, and people of Jacksonville and first responders did their jobs,” he says.
