Hero deputy jumps in to help unresponsive baby

OCALA, FL -- Jeremie Nix, a Florida deputy, was on his way home from work when duty called.

The Marion County, Fla., officer is being hailed as a hero for helping save the life of an unresponsive infant, a story revealed through dramatic dash cam footage and commentary from the Marion County Sheriff's Office.

At 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, a motorist flagged down Nix as he sat in his police car at a stoplight. When Nix made a U-turn to meet the motorist, a woman exited the passenger side of the vehicle holding an unresponsive infant and talking frantically on the phone, the sheriff's office said.

Nix rushed into action.
